As the first data engineer at Pathpoint, you will play an important role in designing, developing, and maintaining the data architecture and pipelines that support our business intelligence reporting and data science initiatives. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across teams to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and well-documented. Your work will directly impact our ability to move fast and often through data-driven decision-making.
What we look for:
- 2-5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics)
- Proficient with SQL and proficiency with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Scala, Golang)
- Comfortable with building and optimizing ETL processes with tools like dbt and Polytomic
- Proven experience with AWS and their data storage, warehousing, and other related services
- Knowledge of the insurance industry is not required nor expected, but could be a nice to have
What you'll do:
- Design and build end-to-end data tools and products—from raw data in disparate sources to clean data models—that support the growing data processing, business intelligence, and machine learning needs
- Recommend, develop, and implement best practices for performant data ingestion, testing, and governance in our data warehouse (Redshift)
- Own systems that validate and guarantee data accuracy and availability
- Collaborate closely with the data team and other stakeholders to enable execution of our analytics and machine learning roadmaps
