Summary

As a Regional Attorney at the SL , you will be part of Office of General Counsel, New York District Legal Unit. The Regional Attorney is appointed to serve as counsel and legal officer to the General Counsel on all matters pertaining to the administration and enforcement of laws related to EEOC's mission and relevant federal regulations, policies, and EEOC's programs, operations and initiatives.



Duties
  • The incumbent has overall responsibility to recommend and conduct all litigation with respect to the matters investigated by the district's enforcement units where conciliation has failed.
  • Recommends, as appropriate, that the General Counsel and/or the Commission approve high profile litigation of matters not within the Regional Attorney's delegated authority.
  • Responsible for the initiation of actions in United States District Courts to enforce compliance with administrative subpoenas; to seek temporary relief pursuant to the provisions of Section 706(f)(2) of Title VII.
  • Develops large, complex, high profile litigation cases involving multiple offices, sometimes across district lines. Resolution of such litigation will likely have impact on a national basis.
  • Oversees the development of difficult legal theories and the preparation of complex legal documents in connection with formal actions in cases.
  • Makes final decision, together with the General Counsel as appropriate, regarding the resolution of Commission cases under the incumbent's supervision.
