Lab Svcs Team Lead for Microbiology

LabCorp is seeking a Lab Services Team Leader to join our busy Microbiology department in Burlington, NC As a member of the Microbiology group, our lab is one of the leading testing laboratories in the United States. This position performs functions of a Senior Technologist as well as coordinates the work of other technologist and technicians for that shift alongside, lab supervisors/managers.

Assays performed in the Microbiology area include Qualitative and Quantitative PCR, with the overall goal of providing results that can be used for the diagnosis and management of a wide range of infections using real-time PCR detection of nucleic acid.

The working schedule for this position will be: 2nd shift, Monday-Friday, 3:00pm-11:00pm. This position is eligible for 10% shift differential due to 2nd shift hours.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performing routine and moderate to complex tests and analysis according to established procedures in designated technical department.
  • Evaluates new procedures or methods under direct supervision of department supervisor or group leader.
  • Reviewing and assigning work
  • Assists in training and orientation of personnel as assigned.
  • Overseeing daily operations.
  • Administering the quality control program,
  • Ensuring that schedule time frames are met,
  • Advising management of problem areas,
  • Assisting in employee actions,
  • Acting as liaison with other departments and customers on technical inquiries and test results.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or related life science.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a clinical laboratory testing environment.
  • Previous lead experience preferred, but not required.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Must be able to work in a team oriented and fast paced environment.
