My client is a Medical Device Manufacturer based out of the Boston, Massachusetts area. They manufacture highly technical, innovate medical devices.

Job Description

The main responsibilities of the Principal Manufacturing Engineer include, but are not limited to:

Manage multiple contract manufacturers for medical device productionCollaborate with suppliers and manufacturers on process development and risk assessmentCreate and execute validation activities for complex optical devicesDemonstrate strong knowledge of medical device manufacturing regulationsUnderstand design control for medical devicesDevelop manufacturing protocols, manage progress, and make data-driven recommendationsIdentify improvement opportunities across various departmentsPerform design and process analysis, providing feedback on specificationsCreate and modify procedures, train associates on manufacturing changesManage product, labeling, and packaging changesApply engineering principles to meet product requirementsDesign and procure tools and fixtures for manufacturing support

The Successful Applicant

The successful Principal Manufacturing Engineer will have the following qualifications:

Education: Bachelor or Masters degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing15+ years in medical device or pharmaceutical industryTeam-based work environment experienceKnowledge of medical device manufacturing regulationsExperience with low volume optical-mechanical devicesExperience with low volume sterile disposablesExperience with Class III Medical DevicesPrior experience with endoscopes, imaging, or machine visionExperience with plastics, injection molding, and small parts assemblyProcess/Operations excellence certification (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean)
