Microbiology and Immunology has an exciitng opportunity for a Research Laboratory Technician - Temporary, Part-Time position. The incumbent aids scientists in their experiments by monitoring and recording their findings. Moreover, the Research Laboratory Technician ensures laboratory compliance with applicable safety regulations.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS


1. Cleans, sanitizes, maintains, and operates laboratory equipment.
2. Keeps records of research data and assists in analyzing it.
3. Maintains inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and places orders in a timely fashion.
4. Proofreads and assists in the writing of manuscripts, grant proposals, and lab protocols.
5. Prepares reports of experiment results.
6. Performs research by completing simple experiments or steps in more complicated studies.
7. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Department Specific Functions

• Aids scientists with experiments and may perform some experiments or some parts of experiments.

• Keeps records, use computers and computerized equipment for research, and may assist with analysis of research data.

• Maintains lab supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, placing and expediting orders for supplies and verifying receipt of supplies.


• Processes, organizes and summarizes data. Reports experiment results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or power point applications or program platforms.

• Ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations in conjunction with the lab and safety and regulatory offices.

• Coordinate and carry out shipments of laboratory reagen.
