This position is located within the Division of Clinical Services, Internal Medicine Branch, Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), Shiprock Service Unit, Shiprock, New Mexico. The purpose of this position is to serve as a technical expert within the specialty area of Internal Medicine. The incumbent assumes responsibility for the diagnosis, care and treatment of patients. The incumbent reports to the Chair of Internal Medicine.
Duties
- Assists the Chair of Internal Medicine and/or in the absence to manage and direct the Department of Internal Medicine including strategic planning, policy formulation, budget management, human resource management, performance improvement, quality management.
- Primary assignments in providing comprehensive and continuing health and medical care services for patients.
- Utilize professional medical staff peer review and extensive clinical experience, training and expertise in evidence-based practice principles in order to provide direction and guidance to department medical staff.
- Responds to acute emergency interventions, working closely in consultation with members of other medical departments.
- Supervises Internal Medicine physician and provider staff.
- information management, equipment and supplies management, and planning and management of specialty clinics.
- Completes other administrative duties as assigned by the Chair of Internal Medicine.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
