What you will do
Amgen is currently seeking a talented Process Development Senior Scientist to join our Drug Substance Technologies - Synthetics (DSTS) group at Cambridge, MA. Amgens DSTS group within Process Development (PD) is responsible for the invention and development of drug substance manufacturing processes and technologies to advance Amgen's exciting portfolio of synthetic and hybrid assets. Process chemists within our team apply their synthetic training to invent synthetic routes and chemical processes to support drug substance manufacturing from early to late-stage development. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and team-oriented individual with a strong background in organic chemistry and/or biochemistry with a track record of scientific innovation and achievement.
Key Responsibilities:Invent synthetic routes and develop safe, robust, and cost-effective processes to manufacture synthetic and hybrid drug substancesAdvance enabling technologies to accelerate pharmaceutical development and to improve sustainability and process efficiency, including advances in biocatalysis, high-throughput technology, flow chemistry, and AI/machine learningSupport cGMP manufacturing and technology transfer to our internal manufacturing facilities and external contract manufacturersEnsure process performance through process understanding, modeling and characterizationContribute to drug substance development teams by providing experimental results, technical updates, documentation, data interpretation, recommendations, etc.Work cross-functionally to deliver regulatory documents and support regulatory filingsServe as a technical expert and keep current in the field of organic and process chemistryWork effectively in a multi-disciplinary team of chemists, engineers and attribute scientistsBe able to work independently to drive results and advance projectsWinWhat we expect of you We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree in Chemistry completed by June 2024 OR Masters degree in Chemistry and 4 years of industry experience Or Bachelors degree in Chemistry and 6 years of industry experience Preferred Qualifications:Doctorate degree in organic chemistry or biochemistry with a specialization in biocatalysis, oligonucleotide chemistry, synthetic/conjugation chemistry and/or chemoinformatics/machine learningPost-doctoral experience in an academic laboratory or pharmaceutical/biotech industryTrack record of peer-reviewed publications and research presentationsAbility to work within a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment to achieve resultsExcellent written and verbal communication, ability to multitask, effectively plan and follow through on complex projectsA research summary included with CV is strongly encouragedThriveWhat you can expect of us As we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for our teammates professional and personal growth and well-being.
