Summary of Security Specialist:

The Security Specialist - Weapons Detection Systems is stationed at The Johns Hopkins Hospital entrances with the weapons detection system.

  • Partners with the Guest Services team to enhance security and to create a patient and family-centered culture
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations at our entrances by maintaining a safe environment and utilizing the weapons detection systems
  • Provides superior customer service and is trained in de-escalation techniques and conflict management
  • work closely with internal security patrols of JHMI buildings to protect against illegal activities, theft, fire, hazardous conditions, infringements, etc. when/where necessary
  • Ensures no one enters the hospital with any weapons or other unpermitted objects that would potentially cause a safety issue within our hospital

Hours:

  • Full Time, 40hrs per week

Requirements of Security Specialist:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Successful completion of basic security officer training and customer service training within the first 90 days of hire
  • CPR
  • 2 years of security/law enforcement work experience preferred
