Job Description
TIDAL is looking for a highly engaged Business Affairs Lead to join the Legal and Business Affairs team, reporting directly to TIDAL's General Counsel and Head of Business Affairs. You will partner with TIDAL's business teams to help achieve music licensing and strategic partnership objectives. You will work on a wide array of music licensing and partnership initiatives. You will be a music industry subject matter expert and help advise product, engineering, marketing and other teams.
You Will:

  • Propose, negotiate, and secure licensing and other strategic partnership agreements with important label, publishing and other music partners
  • Maintain and develop relationships with industry partners to help communicate TIDAL's business strategy in public and private forums
  • Work with teams to achieve strategic licensing and clearance objectives of TIDAL's product, partnerships, marketing and other business teams
  • Create systems and processes to operationalize these partnerships across teams and help scale a business operating in 50+ countries
  • Organize and maintain past and current US and international label and publishing agreements in the United States and internationally, including the preparation of contract summaries of the license agreements and tracking our rights and obligations under such agreements
  • Advise business teams on music intellectual property rights matters and other projects as required by the Business Affairs and Licensing team.


Qualifications
You Have:

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience negotiating and closing deals in the music industry
  • Experience working with music copyrights and other areas of intellectual property and entertainment business
  • Established understanding of music licensing, digital distribution and music technology
  • Experience negotiating and solving problems, including structuring and resolving complex licensing arrangements
  • External, industry-facing and business relationship-building experience in the music industry
  • Business and legal affairs experience working with legal teams at a technology or media company or record label
  • A deep passion for music and an interest in all forms of digital content
  • A JD degree is not required, but is a plus


Additional Information
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $122,900 - USD $184,300
Zone B: USD $114,200 - USD $171,400
Zone C: USD $108,200 - USD $162,200
Zone D: USD $98,300 - USD $147,500
