Reporting to the Chief IP Counsel, this position is responsible for providing IP legal support across Raytheon's business sectors.
Ability to effectively identify and advise on complex IP issues is a critical aspect of this role.
The successful candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, driving results, thinking creatively on their feet, and collaborating within a matrixed environment.
Experience working with complex transactions, litigation, data rights, IP issues related U.S. Government and international procurements and advising on FAR/DFAR based contracts is required.
This is a hybrid position as the role oversees several programs that will require on-site support in Tewksbury, MA, Andover, MA and / or Dallas, TX.
Candidate must reside within two hour driving distance to these offices or candidates must be able to relocate within 6 months of hire date.
What You Will Do- Draft and negotiated license agreements and complex transactions.
- Provide strategic guidance on complex IP matters related to Raytheon's ongoing business.
- Provide accurate, timely, and pragmatic advice on IP issues related to the life cycle of government contract pursuits, including data rights assertions, compliance with FAR, DFARS and agencyspecific regulatory requirements, offset/localization obligations, and joint venture & consortium agreements with partners.
- Develop understanding of the various business and technology strategies, with deep knowledge in key technology areas.
- Drive initiatives to strengthen IP protection & monetization across Raytheon.
- Lead in a fast pacedenvironment and make collaborative & sound decisions on complex issues.
- Regularly advise senior leadership within the SBU, Engineering and other functions on critical IP decisions.
- Typically requires a minimum of 14 years prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience
- JD Law Degree and an active state bar membership and registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
- Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
- Strong transactional experience in drafting and negotiating complex license agreements
- Experience with IP litigation and management
- Experience with U.S. government contract intellectual property regulations (FAR and DFARS) and complex issues relating to technical data and computer software
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Experience with international intellectual property issues and transactions related to offsets and localization
- Experience with understanding and determining IP valuation of various monetization opportunities
- Highlymotivated individual with strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, judgment, sense of accountability, integrity and a record of managing complex intellectual property matters
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to learn quickly, provide creative solutions, and influence senior leadership
