Job Summary:

Shriners Children's Portland is seeking an CNA/Patient Care Assistant II to join our team This position provides high quality, comprehensive and family-centered care to our patients and assistance to professional staff in completion of patient-related tasks which include, but are not limited to assisting patients with ADL's, post-op ambulation and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant (CNA) assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CNA provides direct patient care and performs routine tasks as assigned. Must consistently demonstrate caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families. Assists with the planning and provision of structured, age appropriate activities for patients under the guidance or direction of a Child Life Therapist. Monitors children's activities and maintains a safe physical and psychosocial environment for children.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and assessment skills necessary to communicate, educate, and provide a therapeutic and safe environment for the specific developmental age groups served between birth and 21 years of age
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to assure completion of patient care activities
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in pediatrics/orthopedics
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Two years of hospital experience
