BAE Systems is seeking a lead systems engineer with at least 6 years of engineering experience and at least 2 years of recent systems engineering specific experience in system design, system architecture, requirements management and cloud architectures to join a team environment on a distributed program. This is a hands-on leadership role on a multi-disciplinary team. This candidate will support the vision, strategy, planning and ongoing support for the development, deployment, and sustainment of an Enterprise Data, Applications and Platform (EDAP) system.
The objective of the program is to procure, design, develop, integrate, test, deploy and sustain software in the EDAP system. The EDAP system will run on a variety of networks and security domains. These software capabilities will also leverage services provided by the Cloud across multiple domains. The capabilities delivered will need to be modular, resilient and able to operate in any cloud based environment. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Agile backlog grooming of Epics and Features, Open System Architecture design principles, facilitating design TEMs across distributed teams, Cloud architectures and design for the cloud. The development environment follows the SAFE methodology, culminating in delivery to an operational environment. This position requires support of customer meetings and operational system deployment and support activities.

Because of the need for intermittent in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform a portion of work onsite, this position will be considered hybrid. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility as well as remotely, when applicable.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a computer related field
  • Engineering experience (at least 6 years)
  • System's Engineering and Requirements Management experience (at least 2-4 recent years)
  • Leadership experience leading engineering teams on agile programs (at least 2 years)
  • Must hold an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI in the future
  • Must have experience working on Cloud programs, preferably AWS
  • Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities
  • The ability to engage constructively with peers and technical leads to communicate the technical approach, trade-offs, and technical decisions
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Understanding and application of modern software development and systems engineering practices, design principles, techniques, and technologies
  • Highly motivated and able to work well in both team and solo settings
  • Experience with Cloud Enterprise solutions, across the full stack

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Open System Architecture design within iterative delivery model
  • Excellent team player who is willing to contribute in any capacity
  • Holding an active Top Secret/SCI clearance would be highly desired
  • Able to deliver in agile sprint cycles
  • Ability to innovate, evaluate and research new technologies while staying abreast of industry trends
  • SAFE for Teams certified - Scrum Master or Leadership roles
  • Full Life-Cycle Systems Engineering Development experience
  • Experience with issue tracking systems such as JIRA

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $191070
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
