The Role:

Modernas Virology group is seeking a motivated and talented Co-Op with experience in the fields of virology/microbiology/molecular biology/immunology. The Co-Op will contribute to teams responsible for advancing vaccine candidates from discovery to clinical trials. He/she/they will assist in performing assays to measure the efficacy of vaccine candidates in preclinical animal models and perform exploratory analysis of clinical trial human samples. The Co-Op will be able to learn about the mRNA vaccine pre-clinical research process and collaborate with world-class scientists in a multidiscipline research group. The applicants should be outstanding students/graduates, exceptional team members, strong communicators, and enthusiastic about working on virology and mRNA vaccinology.

This co-op program is from July December 2024. Candidates must be available to work on-site for the entire duration, 40 hrs/week.

Heres What Youll Do: Perform molecular biological assays to support clinical & preclinical vaccine research programs. Help develop, optimize, and troubleshoot cell-based assays & immunostaining protocols. Data analysis using GraphPad Prism and other software. Independently perform basic cell culture. Manage and optimize lab inventory through Benchling. Be extensively involved in and contribute to scientific discussions. Interact with the other team members and present data in meetings. Heres What Youll Bring to the Table: Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program with a focus on Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or other related Life Science field Experience with basic wet lab techniques and mammalian cell culture. Familiarity with principles and challenges of cell-based assays. Previous co-op/internship or academic lab experience preferred. Eager to learn basic virology techniques. Excellent organizational, time management and laboratory record keeping skills. Enthusiasm for the scientific process and vaccine development. Highly motivated to learn and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
