Emergency Management Specialist

In this position, you will serve as a specialist on emergency response policy issues, providing technical advice and guidance to professional staff in FEMA for the Region Two Response Division, Operations Integration Branch
Typical assignments include:
Supporting regional projects designed to improve operations, plans, and integration to ensures efficient and effective delivery of immediate emergency assistance to individuals and communities impacted and overwhelmed by these disasters, emergencies, or acts of terrorism.
Functioning as an emergency manager or directly supports emergency management functions and participates regularly in efforts to exercise, validate, and execute emergency management capabilities, procedures, and functions.
Building emergency management and support capabilities, as well as to maintain and ensure the readiness of such capabilities based on an analysis of risk and need and coordination with Federal, State, Local, Tribal, Territorial, nongovernmental organizations, and private sector partners across multiple functions, disciplines and mission areas.
Performing as a spokesperson in conferences, meetings, committees, and working groups that support Region 2 disaster operations to promote and maintain a pro-active response posture.
Assigning to one or more emergency management team rosters to be activated during response operations and participate with the team in exercises or help to mentor or evaluate fellow emergency managers.

All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
