Position Overview
The Legal team, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a Sr. Paralegal. The Corporate Transactions Paralegal will support the Head of Legal Operations and Project Management Office in the execution of strategic projects that drive operational excellence, process improvement, facilitate change, and control costs. These initiatives can range from standard process sharing, COE programming, governance programs, portfolio management, technology implementations, vendor management, knowledge management and information governance, and data analytics to modernize legal service delivery.
Additionally, the COE and PMO structure will allow this role to provide key project management to various special legal initiatives. This role will develop a proven understanding of the business and operational environment and apply generalist legal knowledge with specialized knowledge to lead and support one or more legal specialties, such as key investments, expansions/contractions, real estate, tax, finance, intellectual property, and the global commercial, amongst others. This role will liaise directly with key business leads, including Finance, Strategy, and IT on these projects.

  • Support Legal Operations COE in handling the daily execution of strategic legal operations priorities, including process improvement, portfolio management, technology implementations, vendor management, knowledge management and information governance, and data analytics to modernize legal service delivery
  • Drive COE standard methodology sharing across global department and drive successful execution of key projects
  • Deliver global COE training, prepare training materials, prioritize COE training calendar, and coordinate with legal collaborators on delivery of training
  • Lead and handle legal technology software implementations and upgrades
  • Provides substantive transactional support and project management services to the Global Legal Department on various corporate transactions, including but not limited to, Novelis Ventures transactions, M&A projects, real estate, tax, and the global commercial COE
  • Establish project timelines, coordinate committee meeting calendars, track completion of tasks, connect with partners as necessary to provide updates, produce status reports, compile monthly and quarterly reports from internal databases
  • Conduct legal research
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of company documents and department files
  • Maintain legal databases and legal technology systems
  • Work with the lead corporate attorneys, deal teams, and outside counsel on investment closings
  • Conduct due diligence activities and complete information requests
  • Draft and review legal documents
  • Implement new processes and crafting operational efficiencies for transaction closing
  • Support Novelis Legal billing process, supervise vendor invoicing for compliance with Novelis Legal Billing guidelines, and assist with monthly and quarterly invoicing accruals process
  • Translate the legal business objectives and priorities into strategic plan inclusive of benchmarks, metrics, and KPIs
Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of related paralegal experience in a law firm or in-house corporate environment supporting special transactions and projects
  • Track record reporting on Legal department KPIs and other measurable cost benchmarks
Preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and paralegal certification from ABA accredited paralegal program.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of related paralegal experience in an international corporate company environment
