About this role

Responsible for oversight and management of various global risk management programs.

Your role will consist of
  • Manage and actively participate in the global planning, directing and coordinating of the Company's risk and insurance and risk assessment programs. Identify exposures to the Corporation and assist in developing mitigation and risk financing strategies to minimize any impact to the Corporate balance sheet. Develop strategies to reduce the cost of risk and insurance.
  • Determine what insurable risks will be transferred to third parties with recommendations to senior management.
  • Risk Finance Support the Risk Finance team to work closely with all Functional Departments as well as all Operational Sites on risk management issues, projects, reports, risk assessments and risk analysis.
  • Develop a global frame work for insurance and risk management strategies and to ensure that insurances meet contractual obligations and the changing face of Newmont. Have solid knowledge of and comply with local country requirements/laws in: Australia, Papua New Guinea, Ghana, Mexico, Argentina, Suriname, Canada, Peru and the United States of America.
  • Support and develop documents / reports / presentations that are prepared for meetings and lead / facilitate presentations with our global underwriting partners as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Support the Risk Finance team in working with Functional Departments and sites globally to identify areas to reduce costs / expenses.
  • Manage collation of all workers compensation insurance claim data and manage all claims for accuracy, consistency and ultimately negotiate settlement
  • Support major claims process.
  • Prepare procedures, manuals, and guides, issue specific instructions, bulletins and directions both internally as well as externally, i.e. to functional departments, sites/operations, and global underwriting partners.
  • Annual review of all insurances to ensure that there are no duplications or redundancies and that our insurance and risk management strategy compliments our risk profile. Ensure that the purchase of insurance is done in a cost-effective manner and to leverage Newmont's buying power.
  • Support Supply Chain Management in their contract procurement process, particular focus on the indemnity, insurance and limitation of liability sections. This applies to all Newmont operations worldwide.
  • Assist in the coordination of Newmont's casualty, marine transit, and property & machinery breakdown insurance losses. This duty will include gathering information for Insurers, supporting litigation efforts, reporting non-litigated claims, and developing claim statistics.
  • manage the Risk Finance Discovery Page. Assist in the development of information and content for usage by Newmont.
  • Manage and actively participate in the global marine facility; coordinating all cargo movements, marine surveys and reduce the reliance on external service providers and the cost thereof.
  • Prepare and manage the Risk Finance monthly risk management reports and develop and manage the quarterly Risk Finance reports to Regions and Regional GE, Finance.
  • Build, maintain and manage relationships with corporate office, regional offices, operating units, members of insuring underwriters, brokers and service providers.
  • Manage and negotiate counter party contracts and monitor compliance to contractual requirements. Provide ongoing education to Newmont contracts staff in the regions and travel on an as required basis.
  • Develop and manage a Cost of Risk Model

Your training, skills, and experience checklist
  • B.Sc. degree in Business Management, Risk Management, or related field and 5 years of risk management experience in international business/mining.
  • Professional certification (one of the following): ARM, CPCU, CIC or CRM
  • Applicant should have excellent analytical capabilities and interpersonal skills.
Working conditions and location
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally at short notice.
  • Must be able to visit/inspect Newmont's global operations.
  • Position may be required to travel to and assist with other domestic and international sites.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $106, ,825. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
