Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit, community health care provider, governed by a community-based board of trustees. Since its founding in 1973, the original 59-bed, short-stay hospital has grown into a comprehensive acute care medical center with 226 licensed beds. We specialize in women's and children's services, surgery, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, gerontology, psychiatry, emergency services and community health education. In June 1998, Howard County General Hospital joined Johns Hopkins Medicine. In June 2023, the hospital was renamed Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center.

The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for daily operation of the nursing unit and assuring that short-term problems are addressed timely. The Assistant Nurse Manager works closely with the Nurse Manager to drive quality, safety, and financial outcomes. This position communicates regulary with the Nurse Manager so that the Nurse Manager can be aware of trends for longer term problem solving. The Assistant Nurse Manager may assume management functions as designated by the Nurse Manager.

This Assistant Nurse Manager will assist the Support Services Manager in overseeing Support Services which includes the constant observers, avasys monitors, nursing float pool, shift directors, and discharge hospitality suite.

Who Should Apply:

  • Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing.
  • BSN required.
  • Must possess a current Maryland RN license, or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland.
  • Must maintain current CPR certification.
  • Nationally recognized certification in nursing administration and/or an appropriate specialty preferred.
  • At least five (5) years' experience as a RN and 3 years of supervisory experience on a nursing unit.
