The Technical Director will be a full-time position to create and implement high-quality youth development programming and excellence in coaching. The TD will be responsible for coaching 1 - 2 teams, coach recruitment and curriculum development, as well as take the lead in additional programming while developing the club culture. The TD will be expected to provide the highest level of customer service. The coach will spend mornings designing training sessions, scheduling, communicating with club members, designing new programs, film analysis and creating new ways to further grow the club/academy.

The successful candidate will be charismatic, outgoing, energetic and great with youth and adults of all ages. The TD will need to be highly motivated, organized and possess excellent communication skills with the ability to sell an experience and grow a club. The individual will need the ability to problem solve and grow a program while keeping high standards and establishing a family culture.

Blacksburg Soccer Development Academy will not have a board which will allow the TD to work at a far quicker pace while reporting directly to club management. Performance reviews will be conducted at months and the TD will be on an annual contract. Extra incentives and training opportunities will be available during out of season programming.

The Technical Director will need to be comfortable with a flexible schedule, willingness to work and travel on weekends as well as travel for matches, tournaments and showcases and access to their own means of transportation. Travel reimbursement, hotel fees and per diem for weekend tournaments will be provided by the club.

  • Currently hold or in the process of obtaining the USSF National "B" License or United Soccer Coaches or UEFA equivalent. Minimum license required is the USSF National "C" License or equivalent and preference will be given to candidates with higher licensure.
  • Three years or more of experience as a director required with a proven track record of club growth and development
  • College / semi-pro or professional playing experience required and the ability to demonstrate technical skills
  • Must be able to pass annual background checks
  • Candidates must be able to work in the United States; visa sponsorships are not currently available with this position
  • Create and design programs that emphasize developing creative, thinking players with technical and tactical excellence that will prepare players to fit into the modern game
  • Experience or knowledge of the college recruiting process and experience of placing players in collegiate programs
  • Every team will have access to filming software such as VEO / Trace; the ideal TD will have experience conducting game film analysis to collect and assess objective, measurable data
  • Present at all club training, matches and tournaments and events
  • Proficiency in one or all of the following skill sets preferred but not required: marketing, sales, business, public relations, fundraising, social media management, club operations
  • Must be able to demonstrate desired technical skills as well as able to lift and carry training equipment on occasion
  • Committed to furthering their coaching education to keep up with modern trends in the game which the club will support the candidate in pursuing
