Nest Afternoon Assistant Teacher

Charlotte Latin School is hiring a part-time Nest Assistant Teacher in our four and five-year-old classroom beginning August 5th, 2024. This individual will assist in managing the classroom effectively with compassion, high energy, attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving strategies. The Nest is open from 7:15-5:45. This position will be from 12-5:45 p.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet the individual needs of the children
  • Interact with children to support learning through play
  • Plan age-appropriate activities for the afternoon
  • Present expectations that are appropriate to the child's age and developmental level
  • Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff
  • Participate in staff meetings and training
  • Complete annual required training hours as prescribed by the NC Division of Child Development
  • Comply with school policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Education and Experience

  • An associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or a related field is preferred.
  • One year of teaching experience is preferred.

Ongoing Requirements

  • State and Federal Background checks are required at time of hire and every five years.
  • Annual Health Questionnaire (required by NC DCDEE)
  • Health and safety training upon hire
  • Education documentation submitted to the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education
