Job Summary

CenterPoint Energy is looking for an Associate Gas Inspector to join our Louisiana & Mississippi Gas Team, located in Laurel, MS.

You will have the ability to: plan, coordinate, and inspect the field work performed by outside contractors with the objective of assuring that work conforms to company standards, specifications and schedules. Install, operate, repair gas mains and service lines along with service related work that is performed at the customer's meters.

Essential Functions
  • Directs, monitors, and inspects contractor construction activities and completes related documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements and construction agreements.
  • Attends construction meetings with government representatives (city, county, state) to obtain and provide construction project updates, and relay the information to the crews and management.
  • Provides accurate and complete field construction documentation.
  • Reviews vendor invoices and verifies charges or quantities.
  • Responds to customer inquiries for construction or conversion information.
  • Coordinates work with contractors throughout the build process for compliance with project scope and specifications.
  • Responsible for QA/QC and inspecting work performed by one or more contract crews.


Education Description

Requires a high school education or GED.

Experience

Requires a minimum of 2 to 3 years of gas construction or related work experience.

Physical Requirements
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle and drive a motor vehicle daily or for extended time periods, in a safe manner, and enter/exit vehicle unassisted.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer and common office equipment.
  • Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.


Working Conditions
  • Able to work indoors in an office environment and outdoors with occasional exposure to all weather conditions, equipment, and noise when at field installation sites.
  • Required to participate in CenterPoint Energy's Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
  • Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT safety sensitive positions.
