Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Catholic Health Initiatives. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Administer non-medicated aerosol and humidity therapy to patients as prescribed by physicians.
  • Plan and implement oxygen therapy protocols to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Provide aerosolized medication and specialty gas therapy to patients with respiratory conditions.
  • Develop and implement COPD care programs to improve patient outcomes.
  • Perform airway management procedures, including intubation and extubation.
  • Administer incentive spirometry to patients to improve lung function.
  • Clean and reprocess respiratory therapy equipment to ensure proper function and safety.
  • Plan and administer bronchial hygiene and chest physiotherapy to patients with respiratory conditions.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and manual ventilation during resuscitation attempts.
  • Collect, analyze, and report arterial blood samples to physicians.
  • Operate mechanical ventilators and manage ventilator settings and weaning per protocols and provider orders.
  • Perform electrocardiography studies and bedside pulmonary function testing.
  • Provide patient, family, hospital staff, and physician education as appropriate.
  • Attend staff or hospital meetings as required and participate on committees as directed.
Qualifications
  • At a minimum, the incumbent shall have received the equivalent of an Associate's Degree in Cardiopulmonary Services or Respiratory Care from an accredited respiratory therapy educational program.
  • The incumbent shall be distinguished as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC); such distinction shall be kept current.
  • The incumbent shall hold an active license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care.
  • The incumbent shall hold a current certificate from the American Heart Association (AHA) in Basic Life Support or Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • A current certificate from the AHA in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • A current certificate from the AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics as a Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider.
