Explore the Role

We are on the lookout for a talented Traffic Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the successful delivery of traffic engineering assignments. As a valued member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in data collection, traffic operations and safety analyses, documentation, and client interactions.

Expanding our services into Traffic represents a strategic move to further enhance the achievements of Sambatek's Transportation Practice.

Job Location: Hybrid, with flexibility for in-office work as required

The ideal candidate will:

  • Collaborate with a dedicated team of transportation experts to execute projects for State and County entities
  • Lead data collection efforts encompassing traffic counts, crash data, and origin-destination statistics
  • Perform traffic operations analysis for a diverse array of transportation projects
  • Conduct crash assessments and forecast future safety benefits for enhancements
  • Oversee traffic-related tasks for studies and preliminary design ventures
  • Represent Sambatek in meetings with clients, counties, municipalities, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Engage in quality assurance activities, risk management, and resource coordination
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, supporting pursuits and proposal formulation
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to support staff members

Desired Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in traffic/transportation engineering
  • Possess a PE license in Civil Engineering, along with 4 or more years of pertinent experience (PTOE license is advantageous)
  • Demonstrate expertise in Synchro/SimTraffic and/or VISSIM
  • Active involvement in local, statewide, and/or national professional organizations
  • Show commitment to surpassing expectations, fostering client relations, and establishing strong connections
  • Established reputation and network, with experience involving MnDOT and MN counties
  • Hands-on experience managing traffic assignments for county or state projects
  • Proficiency in traffic engineering software such as HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, Corsim, Rodel, and IHSDM
  • Experience in assessing traffic projects for freeways, arterial corridors, and intersections, encompassing signals, roundabouts, and other innovative designs
  • Familiarity with multi-modal projects incorporating pedestrian, cyclist, transit, and freight aspects
  • Ability in preparing traffic impact analyses, traffic operation modeling, traffic signal warrant studies, and intersection control evaluations
  • Preference for candidates with expertise in signal timing, controller operations, and traffic signal design
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for coordinating public engagement endeavors
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and independent engineering judgement abilities
  • Sound knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and standards

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

  • Tasks are primarily carried out in an office setting
  • Capability to occasionally handle equipment/items weighing up to 10 pounds
