We are seeking a Technical Leader who can participate in architecture design, technical requirements definition, and engineering execution. This individual will be collaborating with Executive Leadership, Product Management, and Customers to drive the success of our latest groundbreaking security innovation, Cisco Hypershield
Who You Are
You are an innovative software engineer interested in influencing the opinions and decision-making of senior executives and/or major customers on matters of significance to the organization. You are comfortable in design discussions with other architects and engineers. You can present architecture designs and solutions to multiple teams across organizations, gathering feedback that will help us drive consensus and gain alignment. You are not afraid to be creative, use innovative programming languages, technologies, and tools to drive groundbreaking new products.
What You Will Do
The Technical Leader role works alongside our VP of Security Innovation to deliver our security network solutions on an appliance-based platforms with data processing units (DPUs) and network processing units (NPUs) for our Cisco Hypershield product. Your focus will be leading the efforts to take our existing code base and compile it to run on multiple different platforms. This position will help identify and solve obstacles to achieving our vision.
In this role, you should expect to review existing technologies, identify areas to leverage and drive improvement, and create groundbreaking new technology from scratch. You will be looked to both internally and externally Cisco for your expertise, and as such must have deep experience in firewalls, secure web gateways, and/or SASE/SSE. You will use this knowledge coupled with your ambition to write high-quality, production-ready code to re-invent security with us.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of software development experience working with object-oriented programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, Java or similar
  • 3+ years of software bringup experience in a linux-based environment
  • Development experience with third part SDK's for implementing build environment frameworks, designing test-harnesses for hardware bringup or debugging third party tools with external vendors
  • Experience managing or mentoring software engineers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in cloud computing and security
  • Navigating architectures in a highly cross-functional environments: multiple Software Engineering teams, Product Management, Third-party Vendors, etc.

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
