Job Overview
Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Network Security Engineer to join our growing team. You will be responsible for testing, planning, implementing, managing, and maintaining the LAN/WAN infrastructure within the Applied Cloud environment. The Network Engineer must effectively communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders including Data Center Infrastructure Engineers and Application Engineers to create optimal cloud environments and configurations for Applied Cloud products. The Network Engineer will be engaged with Cloud Services, Corporate IT, and other inter-office teams for the purposes of support escalation, rapid response problem resolution, solution collaboration and overall, ensuring that Applied Cloud exhibits the highest level of performance, stability, availability, security and data integrity.
What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust security solutions to protect the organization's network infrastructure, data, and applications.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, testing, and threat modeling to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security tools.
  • Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Automate security tasks using scripting languages and tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Python.
  • Manage and secure public cloud network environments, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Monitor network activity for suspicious behavior and investigate potential security incidents.
  • Collaborate with IT operations, development, and other teams to integrate security considerations into all aspects of the organization's IT and network infrastructure.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest security threats and trends and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Document security processes, procedures, and findings.


What You'll Need to Succeed
We're looking for someone who:

  • Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office


Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security administration.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining security solutions for enterprise networks.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, zero trust, and secure coding principles.
  • Experience with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing methodologies.
  • Experience with scripting languages and automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Python.
  • Experience managing and securing public cloud network environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to security.
