As a Principal Technical Consultant, you are expected utilize your expertise and experience to architect, design, develop and deploy solutions for an array of technologies. In addition, a Principal Technical Consultant can drive a collaborative team leading, mentoring and ensuring development efforts are well documented and delivered with quality, owning the overall outcome of projects. A Principal Technical Consultant is a highly experienced field professional, who combines an excellent breadth of knowledge across open-source and cloud technologies with a proven track record of delivery. They are expected to exhibit a high degree of commercial awareness along with exceptional communication skills. They are trusted to lead large engagements with our most technically complex and politically demanding customers and can be called upon for escalations into other accounts. There is an expectation of at least 25% travel.

The PTC is expected to be the example of engineering excellence within their accounts and areas of expertise. They will be expected to drive innovation, understand the business motivators, and apply the correct technical solution to the problem space at hand. The PTC is expected to routinely publish knowledge (methodologies, sample repos, etc) internally and represent AHEAD from a technical perspective in their respective communities. Internally the PTC is one of the most trusted technology positions in the company, you will be expected to support knowledge proliferation within the organization and make all AHEADians comfortable with the technology decisions that you are espousing.

From a Sales perspective, the PTC is expected to be the tip of the spear when it comes to new accounts and opportunities. You are expected to develop simple solutions to complex problems and present them to potential customers in a collaborative manner that will gain confidence. In an already established account, you are expected to find more opportunities to assist the customer. This is done by continuing to gain their trust and align our goals with theirs. You will become their most trusted technology resource.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams in deploying solutions leveraging the best fit technologies for a Client which can include open-source, cloud native or a mixture.
  • Architect and design complex solutions involving storage, messaging, scalability, and security.
  • Assist in pre-sales activities to drive adoption of open-source and cloud technologies.
  • Lead the creation of written deliverables, client demos, and integration design sessions.
  • Serve as an escalation point for the project team and mentor junior staff.
  • Communicate with customers, including top management, to explain and advise on technical matters.
  • Provide thought leadership and generate innovative solutions for complex client programs.
  • Contribute to projects that address future concepts, products, and technologies.
  • Maintain expert certifications and stay updated on relevant qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7+ years in a customer-facing role.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and deploying large-scale applications and solutions.
  • Proficiency in at least one major cloud vendor environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Subject matter expert in open-source and cloud technologies.
  • Strong development skills in multiple programming languages and messaging protocol.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one area within the organization.
  • Ability to articulate trade-offs in architectural approaches.
  • Strong project management and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter and able to travel at least 25% of the time.
