Colgate-Palmolive invites applications for the Summer/Fall 2024 Data Engineering Internship for the Global Information Technology (GIT) organization. This role is a paid six-month internship that will begin in June and continue into the fall with opportunity to extend beyond. This role will provide opportunities to work with the Data Engineering team and get first-hand experience in how data engineering is applied in a real-world setting. The Data Engineering team is responsible for selecting the technology components as well as the best practices & standards that the organization will use when building data engineering solutions. As a member of the team, you will learn about the data engineering tools that Colgate relies on and apply them - along with the best practices & standards - to data pipelines that will have direct impact on real business applications.

Responsibilities include:

  • Learning the Data Engineering technology stack and the best practices associated with the components
  • Building/supporting data pipelines and/or data pipeline components
  • Collaborating in a team environment
  • Communicating/presenting on project work, including details such as blockers, learnings, progress, and notes for future development & support

Qualifications:

  • Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program at a college or university with a graduation date of or later than December 2024
  • Majoring in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Business/ IT Systems Management, or a related field
  • A minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Must be available to work hybrid at our Piscataway, NJ office location
    • Every Tuesday or Wednesday, hours can be flexible
  • This position requires a 6-month commitment (June-December)
    • Must be available to work 35 hours/week during the summer
    • Must be available to work 15 hours/week during the academic semester
  • Required technical skills:
    • Knowledge in Python and Git / GitHub (version control)
  • Preferred technical skills:
    • Familiarity with Airflow (or task orchestration), CI/CD, Docker (or containerization), SQL, and GCP tools
    • Good coding practices (leveraging linters, following style guides, documenting code, etc.)


Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $ $31.00 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
