Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy to inpatients and/or outpatients via nutrition screenings, assessments, consultations and counseling sessions. The Registered Dietitian is responsible for nutritional management and care of patients according to physician diagnoses. Prepares appropriate documentation and follow-up for same. Responsibilities will include performance improvement and assisting in department, if needed. Reviews the interdisciplinary screening process and assigns a priority level of risk for patients.

  • You will provide evidence-based nutrition counseling to patients on modified diets
  • You will conduct nutritional screenings and assessments of patients
  • You will collaborate with physicians to coordinate and implement nutritional recommendations
  • You will identify and communicate potential nutritional implications of medications and document this information in patients records
  • You will assist the Food Service Department Dietary Aides with patient food selection and which foods are allowed and disallowed based on the prescribed diet
What qualifications you will need:
  • Licensed Dietician must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Commission Dietetic Registration must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Bachelors Degree

St. Davids Medical Center is a full-service hospital located in central Austin, Texas. This 300+ bed facility features a 24-hour emergency department, the regions largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the internationally-renowned Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute and St. Davids Neuroscience & Spine Institute.
