Admission to MNRN's Summer Nurse Internship program is highly selective and competitive.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited BSN program with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (outof 4.0) and have completed the Med/Surg Clinical rotation in a hospital setting. The incumbent should also be available for full-time employment and rotating shifts (weekend/ nights/ holidays included).
Education Enrollment in an accredited Baccalaureate School of Nursing Required Experience Completion of at least one semester of clinical experience Required Licenses and Certifications BLS Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to perform nursing technologies and provide direct nursing care to patients.Effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate strong ability to set priorities, multitask, and collaborate with team members.Monitors and reports observations/changes in patient status (i.e. vital signs, temperature, pulse oximeter readings, weight, etc.) and records them in the electronic health record. As appropriate reports observations and changes to the appropriate nursing and medical personnel in accordance to the specific Nursing Division protocol.Performs hourly rounding to assess pain, potty and positioning needs for patients.Assists patient with activities of daily living (ADL's), including but not limited to: positioning/escorting, answering patient call lights, feeding, bathing, etc.Maintains the cleanliness and safety of patient rooms/environment by distributing and changing linen/towels, removing used meal trays, checking bed side rails, and safety restraints. Notifies appropriate personnel as needed when these issues cannot be immediately resolved.Transports and/or escorts patients during discharges, transfers, and/or medical appointments. Completes errands such as delivering specimens to the laboratory, etc., as required.Initiates CPR when indicated and appropriate.Provides constant care attendant functions if indicated by the RN, Nurse Supervisor, and/or any other member of Nursing leadership
