Associate Account Director

The Associate Account Director is proactive, results-driven, with a growth mindset who reports directly to the Director of Corporate Communications. They are responsible for the oversight and management of a core group of accounts and a small team. The expectations and responsibilities for this role are centered around two primary objectives:
Nurture and grow client partnerships
Own key client relationships and demonstrate measurable growth on these accounts. Support, guide and motivate team members to successfully penetrate their accounts, deliver profitability and revenue growth, and build long-term relationships that drive organic growth.
Lead and develop a team of strategic and innovative thinkers
Work closely with the Director of Corporate Communications services to mentor/train each team member to identify growth opportunities, determine and refine objectives, provide direction and insight, and develop actionable strategic plans.
Responsibilities:
Nurture and grow client partnerships
- Supports team members in developing value-driven partnerships at inception and during budgeting/planning sessions.
- Schedules intentional in-person and virtual check-ins outside of project work to foster relationships, and encourages team members to do the same.
- Maintains–and ensures team members develop–a deep understanding of clients’ industry, competition, business goals; gather, analyze, and organize information and research to build strategic plans to deliver on their objectives and KPIs.
- Develops customer insights and identifies opportunities based on these insights.
- Leads and/or supports the development of strategic communications and marketing plans and proposals.
- Oversee the P&L and forecasting for the team’s accounts.
Lead and develop a team of strategic and innovative thinkers
- Oversee training and onboarding of all team members plus any freelance resources.
- Actively mentors each team member; creates, documents, and monitors individual growth plans and training.
- Creates clear expectations and accountability measures for each team member.
- Creates and upholds agency best practices (e.g., meeting agendas, follow-up notes, creative brief development, PPAs, etc.).
- Promotes, shares, and documents forward-thinking ways of working to set a proactive, strategic approach to account growth.
- Supports goal-setting for all team members and leads biannual performance reviews.
- Has a strong pulse on all active team accounts and the status and progress of all client relationships.
Requirements
- Corporate Comms and B2B experience preferred. Marketing experience is a plus.
- Has the ability to drive strategy and process to launch complex and fast-moving projects.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize competing deadlines and deliverables on an ongoing basis.
- Entrepreneurial and intellectually curious with great relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communicator with strong presentation, time management and organizational skills.
- Driven, proactive, enthusiastic team player who thrives in a collaborative culture and promotes a positive, empowering environment.
- 10+ years of account management experience and at least 5 years of team management experience.
Location
We are a remote-first agency that also provides opportunities to connect in person at our Central New Jersey location. This includes both optional and required in-person gatherings such as onboarding and periodic department, team, and all-staff meetings, face-to-face client meetings/visits, and social events.
