Sr. Linux System Admin

Apex Systems is seeking a well-qualified Linux Administrator to join a dynamic team of technical professionals in Woodland Hills, CA.


  • Perform as primary Linux Systems Administrator for a high-performance computing (HPC) system operated under a classified government contract; HPC infrastructure includes InfiniBand network, Lustre parallel file system, and NVIDIA GPUs.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree with 11 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 7 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 13 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.
  • Experience operating under and managing systems within current applicable information systems compliance standards.

Technical Abilities:

  • Experience maintaining Classified Linux Domains in effective operations to include a working knowledge of: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) (installing, configuring, patching, troubleshooting).


Clearance and Access:

  • Candidates must have a current DoD Top Secret
  • Currently valid Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP, or similar DoD 8570 security certification; the required certification must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience giving technical presentations to technical and non-technical attendees.
  • Experience providing surge support to other programs as needed.
  • Understanding of basic networking, including subnets, routing, and VLANs. Cisco experience and/or certification.
  • Windows server management experience.
  • Experience with Windows AD, LDAP, VMWare, and knowledge of SAN storage systems.
  • VMWare experience with current version.
  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools (HBSS/Solar Winds/Splunk).
  • Experience with Certification & Accreditation process.
