We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our client's team as the Director of Engineering. The ideal candidate is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, development, and operation of our client's data lake infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of data engineering, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of managing large-scale data environments.


Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the strategic vision for the data lake infrastructure.
  • Align data lake initiatives with the company’s overall data strategy and business needs.
  • Identify and leverage new technologies to enhance data lake capabilities.
  • Develop and execute a strategic vision with a BI function that aligns with the company’s overall business strategy.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of data engineers, software engineers and data visualization engineers.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide career development opportunities and conduct performance reviews.

Data Lake Architecture and Development

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable and secure data lake solutions.
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of the data lake.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for data governance, security, and compliance.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure the efficient and reliable operation of the data lake environment.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to maintain system health.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for data lake projects.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements.
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams and business units.
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions and project plans.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering.
  • Drive innovation by identifying opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Promote the adoption of new tools and technologies to enhance data lake functionality.
  • Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new approaches to BI and analytics using Large Language Models.

Data Governance

  • Identify potential risks related to data security, privacy, and system performance.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure data governance and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Implement data quality management processes and tools to monitor and improve data integrity.


Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.

Experience:

  • Experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related field.
  • Experience in a leadership or management role.
  • Specific experience in the Advertisement Technology (AdTech) Industry
  • Proven track record of managing and scaling large data lake environments.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


Preferred:

  • Experience with machine learning and advanced analytics.
  • Knowledge of data Lakehouse architecture in Databricks.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in data engineering.
  • Relevant industry certifications in cloud data engineering or architecture.
