Overview

The Material Compatibility Testing (MCT) Technician is a critical role within the company, responsible for ensuring the safe and effective shipping and storage of our products. This involves conducting comprehensive laboratory tests to evaluate product compatibility with various materials, preventing potential issues such as corrosion, leakage, or adverse reactions. The MCT Technician works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to provide essential data and insights that support business operations.


Responsibilities

  • Sample Preparation:
  • Accurately measure and record initial data (weight, volume, hardness) of metal coupons, plastics, elastomers, and liner test specimens using laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure proper sample preparation and documentation in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Chemical Handling:
  • Safely handle and transfer chemicals from containers to glass jars containing test specimens, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Testing:
  • Place glass jars containing test specimens in controlled environments (ovens) for specified durations (1 month to 3 months).
  • Data Collection and Analysis:
  • Remove test specimens after the designated testing period.
  • Thoroughly clean and inspect specimens for signs of compatibility or incompatibility.
  • Accurately measure and record final data, including weight, volume, and visual observations.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, documenting findings in the LIMS.
  • Laboratory Maintenance:
  • Regularly calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Contribute to a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Work closely with the compatibility testing coordinator to ensure efficient procurement, handling, and disposal of products and supplies.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional teams and assist with other laboratory tasks as needed.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper handling and disposal of chemicals.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety.


Qualifications

  • Technical Skills: Experience with laboratory equipment and procedures, including the use of balances, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Data Entry and Analysis: Proficiency in using computer systems, especially for data entry, record-keeping, and data analysis.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow precise procedures, maintain accurate records, and ensure data integrity.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to safety practices and the ability to work safely with chemicals.
  • Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive team environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory Experience: Prior experience working in a laboratory setting, particularly in chemistry or materials science.
  • LIMS Proficiency: Familiarity with the use of Laboratory Information Management Systems.
