Job Description:

Miette is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Pastry Chef to lead our talented team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for French-inspired baking, exceptional leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail. This role is crucial in maintaining the high standards of our bakery while driving innovation and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management: Lead and manage the bakery staff, ensuring a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Delivery Management: Oversee the delivery staff to ensure timely and accurate distribution of products.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with managers at our various shop locations to ensure smooth operations.
  • Menu Development: Develop and introduce new menu ideas that align with Miette’s brand and seasonal trends.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all products meet Miette’s high standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Par Management: Oversee par levels to ensure optimal inventory without overproduction.
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis to maximize profitability while maintaining product quality.
  • Production Management: Manage overall production, including planning for and accommodating seasonal influxes.
  • Production Scheduling: Develop and manage the production schedule to ensure timely completion and delivery of all baked goods.
  • Daily Communication and Collaboration: This position reports directly to Meg Ray, the owner. Daily communication and close collaboration with Meg is a vital part of the job.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role in a high-volume bakery.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Creative and innovative approach to menu development.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to conduct cost analysis and manage budgets.
  • Familiarity with French and American baking techniques preferred.
