Role Description
Americord Registry, a leader in newborn stem cell banking, as a Birth Tissue Program Coordinator. In this on-site hospital role, you’ll play a critical part in facilitating placental tissue donations, helping advance medical possibilities while working closely with labor and delivery teams, new parents, and hospital administration. This role is ideal for those who are quick thinkers, problem solvers, and thrive in fast-paced environments. You'll help streamline processes, build strong connections with nurses, physicians, and parents, and ensure smooth tissue collection and transport operations. The position includes full benefits, overtime eligibility, and performance-based bonuses. Shifts consist of 3-4 days per week, 12 hours each.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and hospital staff to integrate and improve the tissue donation process on the labor and delivery floor.
- Engage with expectant parents to explain the donation process, provide reassurance, and address questions.
- Oversee the full donation process from donor consent to collection, maternal blood draw coordination, and arranging transportation to the lab. Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency while maintaining high standards of care.
- Address and resolve logistical issues quickly and effectively during collections and deliveries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital administration to ensure ongoing program success.
- Maintain detailed, accurate records of collections and metrics for reporting purposes.
Qualifications
- Clinical experience preferred (e.g., Birth Tissue Donation Coordinator, Surgical Tech, Nurse Assistant, Labor and Delivery Nurse or Assistant, or Phlebotomist).
- Strong ability to connect and collaborate with hospital staff and communicate with expectant parents empathetically and professionally.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think fast and resolve challenges in a dynamic setting.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage collection timelines and logistics.
- Comfort working on a hospital labor and delivery floor and navigating administrative processes.
- Enthusiasm for improving workflows and delivering exceptional results.
