JOB SUMMARY:




The Maintenance Manager leads the Maintenance team and executes department strategies to accomplish company objectives. The maintenance manager ensures that all team members adhere to processes, procedures, and policies. This role is crucial in executing the organization's health and safety strategy and must ensure that regulations are known and followed. The incumbent must prioritize planning, scheduling, and asset reliability best practices. As an overseer of maintenance workflow, the incumbent is responsible for executing, maintaining, and continuously improving the preventive maintenance system and is also responsible for developing schedules and procedures to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly. Additionally, he/she must oversee, motivate, and review the maintenance planner, parts clerk, supervisors and leads, and all technicians. The Maintenance Manager delegates tasks and responsibilities to maintenance leads and technicians in an effective, positive, and efficient manner. They must understand and follow OSHA guidelines and other regulations, exhibit problem-solving and team-building skills, and foster a culture of teamwork and a continuous improvement mindset.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


• Implements workplace safety policies and standards. Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free workplace. Audits, reports and addresses any unsafe work conditions or safety-related issues. Participates in investigations and root cause mapping.


• Leads daily shift meetings and provides daily direction setting to maintenance staff.


• Ensures compliance with all GMP, Food Safety, and Plant Safety rules while in the processing facility. Ensures equipment, premises, and facilities are kept clean, safe, hygienic, and audit-ready condition.


• Tracks, analyzes, and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance costs, and PM and schedule compliance.


• Must be a strong communicator with people and resources outside of the department including HR, Production, Warehouse, Accounting, QA, and Sanitation, among others.


• Must communicate Maintenance activities that may or may not impact other departments.


• Must take ownership of assigned tasks from beginning to end, ensuring appropriate follow through and follow up through project completion.


• Ensures that all mandatory maintenance programs are followed throughout the Company.


• Maintains a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.


• Constantly reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, solve problems promptly, and to identify opportunities for improvement.


• Performs upgrades and/or changes to equipment if necessary.


• Monitors spare parts, maintenance supplies, equipment use, and inventories to ensure availability when needed.


• Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.


• Participates in all internal and external audits.


• Manages department for compliance with established policies and objectives of the company and contributions in attaining objectives.


• Oversees the work activities and professional training and development of approximately 20 direct reports.


• Responsible for developing and carrying out the department’s goals, objectives, and systems.


• Conducts interviews, performance appraisals, onboarding, and disciplinary meetings including terminations.


• Fills out appropriate paperwork, i.e. hiring, termination, replacement, performance evaluations, accident reports, vacation requests, and counseling forms.


• Is responsible for reviewing and maintaining crewing levels and optimizing to meet or surpass cost targets.


• Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes.


• Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety, and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.


• Participates in sensory training and evaluation to help ensure the highest quality of our products.


• Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).


• Provide training, both formal and informal, for staff based on the needs of the team.


• Maintain relationships with OEMs, communicate with them, and partner with them with on-site service visits.


• All positions, including this one, that communicate with resources outside the organization, should act as an ambassador for the company, following Code of Conduct and other relevant business policies.




Education:


• Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) or equivalent experience.


• Ten (10) years of Maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


• CRE, CRL, CRM, and CMRP certification is desired.


• Lean Six Sigma training/certification a plus.




Skills & Experience:


• Minimum of five (5) years Maintenance Management experience.


• Previous experience in a food facility preferred.


• Possess in-depth knowledge of repairs and maintenance best practices of processing equipment and systems within a food manufacturing facility.


• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedures manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.


• Sound technical skills, logical ability, and strong problem analysis and resolution skills with a strong operational focus.


• A decisive individual who possesses a big-picture perspective and is well-versed in system development and implementation with success in sustainment.


• Knowledge of contracting negotiating and change management.


• Ability to analyze and interpret maintenance and other operational data.


• Ability to gather and analyze all types of data, identify the appropriate relationships between the data to form conclusions about appropriate actions, and make fact-based decisions.


• Prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive deadlines.


• Well-rounded knowledge – manufacturing equipment, PLC, facilities, refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, utilities, infrastructure


• All Management and Executive level positions must be a good organizational fit. Positive attitude, team player, acts with urgency.


• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.


• Engineering background / Project Management/capital experience a plus.


• Good Understanding of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and Word.
