Responsibilities


  • Focus on efficiency, quality, and scalability while overseeing internal and external claim investigation/estimating teams, meeting KPIs, and leading the development of a highly efficient construction and consulting operation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Claims to ensure the department is well-positioned to meet business needs as efficiently as possible.
  • Seek and achieve continuous improvement through the analysis of current practices versus improved LEAN methodologies.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage strong relationships with internal and external investigation/estimating talent.
  • Foster a results-driven and efficient organizational culture.
  • Uphold adherence to standards for loss investigation and valuation within the company.
  • Provide estimating coaching, formal training, and mentoring to staff.
  • Receive and appropriately assign tasks to internal or external talent, ensuring timely completion and keeping task status updated until completed.
  • Maintain and update project status in the claims management system.
  • Conduct a final, brief review of all work before delivery—coaching, training, and following up with talent when needed to address and mentor on assignments.
  • Conduct field ride-along inspections on a percentage of work product monthly—coaching, training, and following up with talent to ensure understanding and completion of tasks.
  • Continue education through Xactimate and Symbility platforms to stay updated on relevant knowledge.
  • Maintain an understanding of industry regulations and standards and stay updated on associated knowledge.
  • Develop and implement training for continuous improvement initiatives.

Within the first year, success in this role would look like:

  • A department that consistently and timely provides work product meeting company and KPI requirements.
  • A team that is engaged, results-driven, continuously improving, and accountable to their in-place department culture.
  • A refined and continually expanding external vendor network capable of maintaining and accurately meeting the evolving needs of the company.
  • Hosting (or co-hosting with a subject matter expert) at least one training per quarter on loss investigation or valuation.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in business management, construction management, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in the construction industry, particularly in insurance restoration.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven management experience with effective results for at least 5 years.
  • Project management skills (planning, scheduling, cost control).
  • Experience in hiring, training, and managing teams.
  • Strong understanding of insurance claims processes and third-party administrators.
  • Claims experience regarding investigation and valuation, including working with causation experts such as forensic engineers and plumbers.
  • Proficiency in Xactimate.
  • Partial mastery of Symbility.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to oversee teams and make and explain management decisions based on established KPIs.
