Crisis Services of North Alabama, Inc. (CSNA) is seeking a committed, experienced professional to fill the position of Financial Officer. CSNA’s Financial Officer serves as a one-person accounting office that maintains the current and historical accounting records of CSNA financial activities and provides financial data to the Executive Director, Board Treasurer, and auditor.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

·        Maintains accounting journals of original entry, cash receipts journal and general journal.

·        Posts all original entries to ledger accounts and subsidiary accounts and keeps running balances including restricted fund accounts.

·        Keeps receipts and other pertinent documents pertaining to financial transactions and files them properly.

·        Prepares and records bank deposits.

·        Makes Payroll General Journal entries each payroll for salaries, taxes, and benefits to allocate cost by program and grant.

·        Ensures preparation of quarterly tax reports and end-of year forms (W2’s, 941’s).

·        Prepares monthly financial statements for Executive Director and Board of Directors. Prepares yearly Profit and Loss Statement by program.

·        Reconciles monthly all checking accounts, statements, and maintains current records of investment accounts.

·        Maintains adequate records of grants, payables, receivables, and checkbook balance to be able to supply the information at all times, e.g., for cash flow.

·        Prepares information and billing on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis by CSNA program, as required for grants and funding sources.

·        Prepares funding applications by providing historical and current data, and forecasts projected requirements.

·        Assists in preparation and revision of annual budgets and grant proposals.

·        Assists with the outside audits, grant reports, etc.

·        Assists the Executive Director in maintaining appropriate insurance coverage for CSNA.

·        Handles telephone inquiries and correspondence related to financial matters.


Qualifications

-       Bachelor’s Degree with special emphasis in Accounting Principles and a minimum of three years of related experience in general accounting practice. Knowledge of non-profit funds accounting, preferred

-       Working knowledge of QuickBooks software

-       Proficiency in working with Excel pivot tables, preferred

-       Working knowledge of computer hardware and software

-       Completion of CSNA training program

-       Ability to manage time, work independently, and handle several projects at once

-       Good oral and written communication skills

-       Ability to work flexible schedule

-       Reliable car, valid Alabama driver’s license, and automobile insurance (as required by law)

-       Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
