POSITION OVERVIEW:

This leadership role guides strategic and tactical coding, coverage, and payment activities to ensure global market access. Central to the role is the use of Healthcare Economic data for reimbursement and commercial initiatives, requiring collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including payers, physicians, surgical societies, and internal teams such as Sales, Marketing, Clinical Affairs, and Regulatory.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and execution of global reimbursement strategies to facilitate the successful launch of products.
  • Craft and communicate comprehensive payer strategies, regularly updating the management team and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the go-to expert for government and third-party reimbursement policies, guiding internal and external customers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with a global network of payers and providers, ensuring alignment and support across functions.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory, R&D, Clinical Research, and Marketing teams to create compelling economic value propositions for products and influence positioning and pricing strategies.
  • Adapt to market changes by reviewing and adjusting payer targets, securing coverage decisions, and coordinating physician advocacy efforts.
  • Develop and update reimbursement materials, staying informed of the global reimbursement environment.
  • Travel as required for market engagement, sales meetings, and industry events.
  • Support sales and marketing in crafting health economics arguments for promotional tools.
  • Economic analyses (cost-effectiveness, budget impact) for significant technologies and their international applicability, including the use of third-party data.
  • As an individual contributor, this role will drive the program strategy and execution for the company.


HEALTH ECONOMICS FUNCTIONS:

  • Design and conduct economic research studies on clinical trials, providing insights for product portfolio decisions and reimbursement strategies.
  • Experience in developing health economic and budget impact models
  • Evaluate the economic value of products to clinical and quality-of-life outcomes.
  • Stay informed of trends in health economics and reimbursement policies from AMA, CMS, and leading private payers and their impact on products and competitive positioning.
  • Establish a working relationship with AMA and pertinent society members related to CPT coding and new technology assessments.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required advanced degree (Masters or PhD) preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the global medical device sector, with significant expertise in health economics and market access.
  • Specific experience with medical devices & surgical procedures is highly desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Global Payer Markets, emphasizing key regions such as the US and Western Europe.
  • Proven ability to influence favorable coding, coverage, and payment decisions on a global scale.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, credible with diverse audiences.
