Job Title: Veterinary Technician/ Animal Care Tech

Location: Athens, GA (Onsite Role)

Duration: 12 months + possibility of conversion into full time.

Work schedule: M-F (8 am - 4:30 pm)

Weekend OT required once a month.

As vacancies become available, there will be a possibility of the assignment to be converted to a full time role.



Duties & Responsibilities:

Ensures compliance with regulations and company policies, documenting animal care, health records, and study protocol requirements.

Provides husbandry, including feed, water, and enrichment; maintains and repairs pens, feeders, and equipment; cleans animal areas.

Observes animal health daily, communicates concerns, and administers treatments as directed by the Site Veterinarian.

Conducts clinical observations, disease assessments, and may administer treatments under protocol. Assists with biosecurity, sample collection, and necropsies, supporting clinical R&D procedures.

May supervise junior team members and perform sedation or euthanasia under supervision.

Skills:

Physical Demands: Requires work in extreme environments (hot, cold, noisy, humid) with strong attention to biosecurity, detail, and timeliness. Must handle heavy lifting (up to 70 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently) and be comfortable working with animals in both ante- and post-mortem procedures. No animal or feed dust allergies allowed.

Visual Demands: Clear vision required; prescription eyewear permitted. Must maintain calm temperament when handling livestock.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent degree (GED).
