THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is currently seeking an Analyst who will assist in supporting the Acquisitions team in the following areas across all regions: evaluating potential transactions, producing internal and external investment memorandums, assisting in the due diligence process, evaluating targeted markets to identify changes and trends on investment strategies and drafting presentations for internal, investors and lenders.


The ideal candidate will have the analytical skills to analyze and assist with both: (1) underwriting direct investments in multifamily properties, and (2) modeling core, value-add and opportunistic capital structures to finance new investments. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Additionally, strong interpersonal abilities are needed to interface with brokers, intermediaries, capital partners, investors, consultants, key industry players and executives. This position is best suited for candidates with long-term aspirations in the area of sourcing new investments as well as accessing and managing capital relationships, fundraising and investor relations.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop pro-forma financials and cash flow models
  • Review and evaluate investment offerings from sales brokers, developers and owners
  • Conduct market research, data mining, and collect competitive property transaction information.
  • Prepare presentations and reports to communicate investment strategies and results
  • Assist team in creation of post-closing asset operations, including creation of cash flow, hold/sell and distribution models.
  • Assist with monitoring performance of existing investments and identify potential areas of concern or opportunity.
  • Contribute to client-facing reports by updating model assumptions, inputting property-level activity, and completing investor reports.

  • Coordinate efforts and initiatives with other verticals and key contributors.


Qualifications:

  • Ideally, the candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in the real estate industry in one of the following capacities: real estate investment sales/brokerage, real estate investment banking, commercial real estate lending/finance, direct real estate investment, or real estate appraisals for commercial property
  • BS in finance and/or accounting preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Pre-existing Excel training and modeling skills required
  • High attention to detail in analytical assessments and valuations
  • Excellent problem-solving and organization skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills


DESIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

B.A./B.S. degree required.


SKILLS

  1. Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills required.
  2. General understanding of real estate property metrics required
  3. Exposure to the real estate capital raising process preferred.
  4. Understanding of private real estate investment products and vehicle structures is an advantage.
  5. Ability to work independently with structured supervision.
  6. Proficient in advanced Microsoft software, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel model building and underwriting experience required.
  7. Willingness to travel as appropriate, but business travel is not required.
