Location: New Haven, CT (Onsite, 5 days a week)
Role Overview:
As an Associate Scientist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the scale-up of pilot-scale manufacturing processes for our company's biotherapeutic candidates. Your work will involve close collaboration with the Pilot Plant Operations team and Process Development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with pilot-scale operations involving up to 500L bioreactors and related downstream purification processes. This includes upstream mammalian cell culture, purification steps, and buffer preparation for biologics production.
- Support laboratory management tasks such as maintaining lab and pilot-scale equipment, setting up and cleaning up after activities.
- Document experimental results using electronic notebooks, paper forms, and technical reports.
- Be available during standard working hours, with the possibility of occasional after-hours, shift work, or weekend work as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field from an accredited institution.
- 0-2 years of relevant laboratory or industry experience. Familiarity with laboratory and manufacturing operating and safety procedures is essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Creative problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and reproducibility.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work in a laboratory setting, including lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds, working with biological and hazardous materials, and using PPE. Must be comfortable with computer use and communication via phone, video, and electronic messaging.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in biologics manufacturing or research, particularly with a focus on mammalian cell culture.
- Basic laboratory skills, including pipetting, volumetric measurements, weighing components, and pH/conductivity measurements.
