Senior Estimator


In the Senior Estimator role, you will work closely with both our clients and our team members. You will be responsible for managing and delivering conceptual estimates, detailed cost estimates, constructability reviews, phasing and logistics analyses, cost reconciliations, and more, as well as assist in the maintenance of client relationships. You will manage, lead, and mentor junior team members in the development and delivery of projects. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for precision and customer service.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform cost estimates from conceptual design to detailed construction level documentation.
  • Develop estimates for indirect costs, escalation/risk contingencies/forecasting, executive summaries, reconciliation, benchmarking, risk analysis, and constructability reviews.
  • Perform quantitative takeoff using plans, specifications, and 3D models.
  • Lead project risk and pricing analysis.
  • Provide detailed and accurate estimates with supporting documents, including all necessary takeoffs and vendor quotes.
  • Source material and equipment quotes.


Team Leadership and Development


  • Provide individual and group training on a project level.
  • Act as a mentor and assist in the development of team members.


Collaboration and Relationship Management


  • Maintain relationships with the local subcontractor community and manage a database of subcontractors.
  • Prequalify new subcontractors for regional projects to ensure quality estimates.
  • Study plans and specifications thoroughly and visit sites as necessary.


Scope and Task Management

  • Assist in establishing project scope of work and task hours on a project level.


Essential Skills

  • In-depth understanding of construction types, methods, materials, building systems, and general conditions, overhead, and profit
  • Knowledge of cost of materials, trades, building types, systems, and CSI divisions
  • Familiarity with basic construction scheduling and critical path schedule drivers
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills with preconstruction team, customers, designers, and vendors
  • Proficiency with computer spreadsheets (Excel) and ability to learn new estimating software


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar) or equivalent work experience
  • 8-10+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in commercial construction
  • Proven track record with a previous project list, including client/design team information
  • Proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff (or similar software), Bluebeam, Excel, and other Microsoft-related software
  • Critical thinker, self-starter, and creative problem solver
