Overview
The Facilities Maintenance Engineer will oversee the maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of manufacturing and facility equipment, as well as electrical systems at the company sites. This role includes managing all related projects and services to ensure timely completion according to standard practices. Additionally, the engineer will conduct routine facility inspections, both visual and physical, to ensure optimal operation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee maintenance and operational procedures for essential systems.
- Assist in planning and executing equipment shutdowns.
- Responsible for diagnosing issues and providing corrective action instructions.
- Engage in the calibration process and cycle designs; implement necessary changes through engineering change control procedures.
- Work with the validation department on change control requalification and validation.
- Apply knowledge of PLC control directly or through PLC engineering to implement necessary changes in process and mechanical control.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance on PR and SOP writing, and participate in reviews and corrective actions related to mechanical or process deviations of equipment.
- Make technical decisions impacting equipment, facilities, and processes regularly.
- Identify critical issues, explore alternatives, make recommendations, and develop and implement resolution plans.
- Provide assistance and guidance to the work team to resolve both technical and non-technical issues.
- Follow applicable safety standards and procedures while working within company guidelines and cGMP processes.
- Complete necessary paperwork for equipment and maintenance data as part of the department’s calibration processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Associate degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience
- High School Diploma with at least 15 years of relevant experience
- 1-3 years of experience with instrumentation, electrical systems, and mechanical processes, preferably in the bio/pharmaceutical or a related industry
- Direct experience with refrigeration, electrical systems, and mechanical processes, ideally in the bio/pharmaceutical or a related industry
- Specific knowledge of vacuum systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical circuits and controls.
- Understanding of electronic controls and refrigeration systems, including low-temperature cascading systems and multi-stage compressor
- Familiarity with PLC control systems. Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in reading schematics and diagrams, as well as other written materials. High level of safety awareness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to communicate proactively and focus on solutions, including keeping management informed of potential issues
- Detail-oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems. Previous experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Flexibility to work hours based on business needs, which may include some nights and occasional weekends
- Experience with lyophilization equipment (preferred).
