JOB PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the Production Manager, is responsible for leading the fluid power assembly department by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Description of Tasks and Responsibilities:

Instructs and checks work of fluid power assembly technicians on work methods, standards, procedures, and related topics to facilitate the assembly process in a safe environment for quality standards, timely delivery, and cost control to fill customer orders as required.

Prepares, delegates, and works on a daily work schedule for production to meet customer timelines, informing others of areas of concern with meeting customer expectations.

Completes assigned jobs in a safe and timely manner in accordance with work order instructions, assembly drawings and schematics, meeting industry, customer and production standards and expectations.

Reviews fluid power shop packets for completeness and accuracy prior to making job assignments, making suggestions to engineering where functionality and profitability may be improved.

Coordinates updating of documents with Production Manager and engineering personnel to assists in establishing standards for documentation.

Suggests areas of improvement in equipment usage and facility layout to streamline workflow and improve efficiency, quality, and safety.

Ensures production environment is satisfactory for good working conditions and recommends equipment upgrades to ensure high productivity and safety.

Provides input on appropriate inventory levels for commonly used materials.

Performs fluid power technician duties as needed to meet customer and department expectations and timelines.

Reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate individuals, and completes minor repairs as needed.

Supports communication of and compliance with company policies and procedures, giving special attention to safety regulations.

Participates in additional activities contributing to the overall goals of the company as the opportunities arise.

Description of other duties that may be assigned: Perform general office duties.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write emails and correspondence.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Prelude Systems; Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook.

Education/Experience: 5-7 years of experience in fluid power plus a high school diploma, or combination of both. Leadership experience preferred.

Equipment:

  • Forklift and hand trucks
  • Hand tools (drills, saws, taps, dies etc.)
  • Pipe cutting and threading machines
  • Welding equipment
  • Metal cutting equipment
  • Multi-meter

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to understand hydraulic schematic diagrams
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical comprehension
  • Knowledge of hydraulic components and their function in a circuit
