Construction Inspector

JKMuir is currently seeking a Construction Inspector with a minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience for construction observation services in the Hartford, CT area. It is desirable for the candidate to have strong masonry, linear pipe, and process system knowledge, excellent written and oral communication skills, be flexible and self-motivated, and comfortable independently interacting with Contractors and Engineers. Options are available for both part time and full time employment, as well as short duration projects.  

 

General responsibilities will include:

  • Independently lead tasks for projects and assist senior project managers,
  • Work collaboratively and effectively as a member of a project team to prepare daily field reports, intimate knowledge and understanding of Plans and Specifications, and interface with regulatory agencies on behalf of project team and clients,
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with client personnel,
  • Exhibit integrity and the highest quality in all activities,
  • Maintains pleasant, professional public relations with clients and project abutters to enhance the prospects of repeat business,
  • Be knowledgeable of conditions depicted by the documents and promptly report any errors or omissions in the contract drawings or potential site variations to the Chief Certified Construction Representative or other manager as assigned,
  • Be knowledgeable of proper use and care for equipment and supplies. Maintain equipment and field and office supplies,
  • Provides recommendations for design improvements that could be useful on future work.

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in civil or environmental engineering,
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction administration or oversight, linear pipe installation experience is preferred,
  • Experience on water/wastewater construction projects is desired, including experience with construction oversight,
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license in good standing,
  • Independent and self motivated, with attention to detail and excellent client interaction skills to develop relationships,
  • Must meet deadlines and perform tasks efficiently within assigned time frames.
