As a member of the Division of Courtroom Modernization (DCM) Team, and under the supervision of Technical Managers, the technician or engineer will help advance our mission to make public court spaces in New York State more functional and accessible. This position offers the potential for upward mobility and specialization within the various projects DCM is responsible for, such as audio-visual systems, evidence presentation systems and video conferencing, digital signage, accessibility solutions for the public, live streaming production, programming and user interfaces/experiences, project management and logistics, and training and support. You will have the opportunity to become a specialist in any of these disciplines and develop into a project leader.

Responsibilities

The technician or engineer will perform a wide range of functions to support the Division of Court Modernization operations, including but not limited to, the research, development, design, deployment, maintenance, training and support of the state-of-the-art audio and visual systems in courtrooms, jury rooms, training and conference rooms throughout the state. Court Modernization technicians and engineers resolve and monitor cabling, networking equipment, audio visual hardware, software and configuration problems, contact vendors and visit remote location within New York State to resolve problems. Technicians and engineers coordinate with court managers and vendors for the delivery of audio-visual solutions and are responsible for reporting project progress to Technical Managers and the Director of Court Modernization. Court Modernization technicians and engineers provide information to Technical Managers on the work of subordinate personnel and assist help desk personnel to resolve escalated technical problems. Depending on the job assignments, frequent travel within New York State, as well as the ability to lift equipment weighing up to 30 lbs, may be required.


In addition to applicants specializing in technical implementations and support, the Division of Court Modernization welcomes candidates with logistics experience, including but not limited to, specialization in inventory management and equipment distribution for enterprise or other large-scale organizations.

THERE ARE CURRENTLY TWO (2) POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN THE DIVISION OF COURT MODERNIZATION IN THE NETWORK/SYSTEM SERIES.


POSITION TITLE: NETWORK/SYSTEM Technician/Engineer

JG:16 to JG: 23

BASE SALARY: $56,411 to $82,198 (Based on education, experience, and skills)


QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) to three (3) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment.


DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: Network/System Engineers work under supervision in units within the Division of Court Modernization. Network/System Engineers I are responsible for resolving the most difficult help desk technical issues and providing technical expertise for help desk personnel. They are responsible for installing network architecture under direction from Technical Managers, Network/System Engineers II or Network /System Engineers III. They are responsible for the delivery and monitoring of technology systems and projects. They oversee the work of help desk personnel in order to provide support in accordance with established processes and guidelines. Network/System Engineers I are responsible for ensuring that the installation of networks/systems, audio systems, telecommunications equipment, courtroom technical equipment, software and hardware are handled in a timely manner and for providing status reports for projects and initiatives and perform other related duties.
