As a member of the Division of Courtroom Modernization (DCM) Team, and under the supervision of Technical Managers, the engineer will help advance our mission to make public court spaces in New York State more functional and accessible. This position offers the potential for upward mobility and specialization within the various projects DCM is responsible for, such as audio-visual systems, evidence presentation systems and video conferencing, digital signage, accessibility solutions for the public, live streaming production, programming and user interfaces/experiences, project management and logistics, and training and support. You will have the opportunity to become a specialist in any of these disciplines and develop into a project leader.

Responsibilities
The engineer will perform a wide range of functions to support the Division of Court Modernization operations, including but not limited to, the research, development, design, deployment, maintenance, training and support of the state-of-the-art audio and visual systems in courtrooms, jury rooms, training and conference rooms throughout the state. Court Modernization technicians and engineers resolve and monitor cabling, networking equipment, audio visual hardware, software and configuration problems, contact vendors and visit remote location within New York State to resolve problems. Technicians and engineers coordinate with court managers and vendors for the delivery of audio-visual solutions and are responsible for reporting project progress to Technical Managers and the Director of Court Modernization. Court Modernization technicians and engineers provide information to Technical Managers on the work of subordinate personnel and assist help desk personnel to resolve escalated technical problems. Depending on the job assignments, frequent travel within New York State, as well as the ability to lift equipment weighing up to 30 lbs, may be required.

THERE ARE CURRENTLY TWO (2) POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN THE DIVISION OF COURT MODERNIZATION IN THE NETWORK/SYSTEM SERIES.
POSITION TITLE: NETWORK/SYSTEM ENGINEER II/III
JG:25 to JG: 28
BASE SALARY: $91,642 to $107,629 (Based on education, experience, and skills)
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) to five (5) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment; or An equivalent combination of education and related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: Network/System Engineers II/III work independently in units within the Division of Court Modernization. Network/System Engineers II/III are responsible for overseeing the work of subordinate personnel and for supervising and participating in the installation and configuration of complex audio-visual systems in accordance with current standards. They are responsible for oversight of the planning and delivery of multiple technical systems, technology infrastructure and projects. They work with executive and court managers to ensure that all technology needs are met and to assess the performance of subordinate personnel. They ensure technical support for both users and networks/systems is in accordance with established processes and guidelines. Network/System Engineers II/III are responsible for providing technical management, project plans and status reports for technical projects and initiatives and perform other related duties.
