The Data Quality Analyst will support the definition of data quality standards, requirements, and specifications for data quality controls in the data lifecycle. They will also provide support for operational processes that measure, monitor and report on data quality levels as well as the remediation of identified data quality issues.


The person will meet with various stakeholders to gather and document information, perform data analysis, and conduct assessments of business and technical processes involved in managing data.

Summary

The Data Analyst is a critical data governance role for enabling data integrity and ensuring data meets the criteria established by the Chief Data & Analytics Office for data management, quality, and certification. The Data Analyst will collaborate with Data Stewards, Information Architects, Data Quality Analysts and business/technical stakeholders to research and document data, metadata, and reference data to ensure it meets specific use cases and regulatory expectations. As part of the position, this person will meet with various stakeholders to gather information, facilitate meetings, conduct research, and document information.

Responsibilities

Data Documentation: Define data security classifications Analyze data profiles – partner with data users and stakeholders to enable an understanding of data being considered for use case Catalog data, ensuring it has a definition/description and basic metadata is available, and is associated with a regulation or policy if required Define data quality rule requirements and data standardization needs Maintain comprehensive data documentation, including data dictionaries, lineage, data flow diagrams, and source-to-target mappings Data Guidance and Use: Guide users in understanding their data, its quality, and data selection based on use case to ensure data is fit for purpose. Collaborate to identify needed data sets and critical data elements Deliver data requirements to data engineering for configuration Validate data in various environments to ensure it meets established requirements for data quality and use Work in an Agile framework for delivery of tasks within a defined project sprint Follow established data standards, procedures, and processes to ensure data meets the needs of the use case and applicable regulatory requirements.

Experience

5 years’ experience in data governance and/or data management 5 years’ experience serving in the role as a data steward, business analyst, or data analyst Proficiency in data profiling, statistical analysis, data analysis, data quality, and data standardization / cleansing techniques Strong data query and analytics skills; ability to analyze data trends, identify patterns and proactively address potential data quality issues Proficient in documenting data – data catalogs, source-to-target mappings, data lineage, data flow, and procedural documentation for audit or executive review 2 or more years’ experience working on Agile project teams – use of JIRA Experience with Collibra, Informatica, and Snowflake (Python, R is a plus)
