We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our growing trusts, estates and elder law firm. In this role you will assist the senior attorney, have the autonomy to handle estate planning, probate, guardianship and elder law cases independently and receive the necessary support to excel in client representation. Your background in estate planning and administration, combined with your exceptional organizational and leadership skills, will contribute to the growth of our firm and lead to better experiences for our clients.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by being responsive, compassionate, and proactive to ensure a positive experience for clients
  • Assist clients in comprehending their needs, exploring legal options, and developing strategies aligned with their objectives
  • Prepare legal documents under the supervision of a qualified attorney, including Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Court filings, in collaboration with a team
  • Meet with clients to review their legal documents and execute final estate planning documents
  • Demonstrate empathy and understanding towards clients facing challenging situations
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment to achieve individual, firm, and client goals effectively
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to legal ethics.
  • Adhere strictly to organizational legal procedures and deadlines to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks
  • Perform other legal duties as required


Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid North Carolina law license (We can help you get sworn in, but you must have the license in hand)
  • At least one year of practice in the area of estate planning is strongly preferred
  • If you do not have any practice experience, then proven coursework and training in estate planning is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, specifically in situations when emotions can be high
  • Ability to manage some independent cases and assist the senior attorney
  • Ability to meet clear, established work standards for timekeeping, client communication, document production, and case management
  • Professional, friendly demeanor that is an asset to the positive workplace culture we've worked hard to build
  • Ability to handle cases in Guilford County and surrounding Counties, including reliable transportation
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with our clients and be available to answer questions.
  • Valid North Carolina Notary Public, or ability to obtain it immediately
  • Three professional references


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
