Position Overview

We are looking for a talented and self-starting attorney with exceptional skills in legal drafting, research, analysis, and civil motion work. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with staff members at all levels of our organization and handle various civil litigation tasks. Compensation will be commensurate with your aptitude and expertise.


Qualifications:

  • Licensed in any US jurisdiction (Utah preferred but not necessary)
  • Barred in Utah (or registered for the July UBE Bar Exam with plans to join Utah Bar)
  • Skill and expertise are paramount (Years of experience do not matter)
  • Excellent legal drafting skills, particularly involving demand letters and motion work
  • Excellent legal analysis and application to facts in addressing specific needs of the clients
  • Experience with litigation matters and reviewing/redlining commercial contracts
  • Knowledge of data protection privacy laws is a plus


Duties:

  • Legal research and analysis (LexisNexis access provided as needed)
  • Drafting of motions, pleadings, demand letters, and settlement offers
  • Review, analysis, and production of discovery
  • Draft client-friendly memoranda and analysis of client issues
  • Draft, review, revise, and negotiate various legal documents, including master service agreements, vendor/supplier contracts, confidentiality agreements, construction agreements, real estate agreements, and reseller agreements, with an emphasis on outbound contracts
  • Attend hearings, argue motions, review, and collect discovery
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents
  • Work closely and partner with the staff on transactions that drive the company’s revenue
  • Perform special assignments, strategic projects, or duties as assigned
  • Advise and interpret real estate contract requirements, obligations, and risks
  • Proactively work with internal stakeholders to improve and scale all aspects of the litigation process
  • Assist in case management, including document review and organization, deposition preparation, and witness preparation
  • Attend depositions, mediations, and other meetings with clients and opposing counsel
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution proceedings
  • Review and analyze legal documents, contracts, and agreements to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and third-party stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner
  • Stay up-to-date on changes to laws, regulations, and court rules that may affect litigation strategy or client representation
  • Provide support to other attorneys and staff as needed, including attending firm meetings and participating in training programs


Compensation and Benefits:

  • $36/hour to $62/hour, commensurate with skill and expertise, paid bi-monthly by direct deposit
  • Fully remote, hybrid-remote, or in-office work setting flexibility
  • Flexibility and autonomy as an independent contractor status

  • Potential Hours: 8 to 32 hours per week as demand requires

  • Willingness to occasionally work on-site at our Salt Lake office


What You Bring:

  • JD, LLB & LLM, or equivalent law degree
  • Licensed in any US jurisdiction (Utah preferred but not necessary)
  • Experience working collaboratively across multiple business functions in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-growth environment
  • Exceptional analytical and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Excellent project management skills and outstanding communication and follow-up skills to drive process and results to a conclusion
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work along with an ability to adapt well to changing and competing priorities
  • Excellent judgment and experience handling sensitive and confidential information with integrity, credibility, and character of unquestionable ethical standards
  • Efficient legal research skills and proficiency with legal research software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and learning various other cloud software applications
